Homewood Charlie Prentiss-Joe Napier memorial
golf outing set Sept. 22 at Lincoln Oaks GC

    
    Homewood Area Small Fry Basketball will host the first Charlie Prentiss - Joe Napier Memorial Golf Outing on Sunday, Sept. 22 at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course, 395 E. Richton Road in Crete. The fund-raiser for alumni and friends will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
    The $100 fee will include golf, cart, lunch, dinner, beverages and door prizes. Dinner only is available for $20 and all proceeds will help fund the Vikings' trip to the International Tournament during Spring Break 2014. Opportunities for sponsorships are also available.


  

Vikings (20-4) capture 5th place at International
  
    ORLANDO- Homewood Area Small Fry put together a 4-1 record to capture fifth place overall in the 24-team field at the 45th annual International Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.
    Homewood 58, Marquette Best 55- Marcus Taylor poured in 22 points with 15 rebounds, and Trace Williams added 15 points to ignite the Vikings to a fifth-place victory. Jailen Richardson and Joel Watts each added seven points for Homewood, which finished the year winning 15 of 16 to reach the 20-victory plateau.
    Homewood 69, Caparra, PR 46- In a game that featured 84 free throws, the Vikings (19-4) had 11 different players score in earning a spot in the fifth-place contest. Marcus Taylor topped Homewood with 21 points, 12 rebounds and six steals, while Trace Williams chipped in eight points. Justin Hunter (six rebounds) and Jack Koyn both notched seven points. De'Eric Murry pulled down five rebounds to help Homewood to a 45-27 advantage in that category, while Charlie Szykowny had three steals as well.
    Kenosha 44, Homewood 41- Kenosha used a 12-9 scoring margin in the final quarter to break a tie. Viking Marcus Taylor led his squad with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, while Trace Williams added 14 points. Jailen Richardson turned in a strong all-around contest with three steals and six assists. The setback halted a 13-game Homewood winning streak and sends the Vikings (18-4) into the fifth-place bracket at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
    Homewood 51, Glenbrook 37- The Vikings (18-3) broke open a close contest with a 20-12 margin in the final stanza, as Marcus Taylor scored six of his team-high 15 points. Trace Williams added 12 points and Rashea Smith (five rebounds) chipped in 10 markers, while Justin Hunter finished with six points, eight rebounds and four assists. Taylor also had three steals and dished out four assists.
    Homewood 49, Ponce Constancia 44- The Vikings outscored their foe in each of the first three quarters and rode the balanced attack of Taylor (nine points), Williams (eight) and Charlie Szykowny to victory. Taylor also notched five rebounds and four assists, Hunter added five rebounds, Smith (six points) dished out three assists and Jack Koyn took a pair of charges
